Esaom Cesa à Portoferraio
To start your journey, nothing better than the capital of Elba Island, located in the northern part.
Portoferraio, the largest city of Elba, is a must-see when visiting the island.
Having welcomed Napoleon Bonaparte between 1814 and 1815, he greatly participated in the development of the city and some of these historic sites still exist today and can still be visited.Between History, good restaurants and sun, Portoferraio is a city that will satisfy your sailor’s soul. For instance, the restaurant closest to the marina, Molo G Osteria, is well recommended by boaters on Navily.
Esaom Cesa Marina, right next to the historic center of Portoferraio, is the perfect place to stop for a few days to visit, sunbathe or stroll through the streets of this picturesque town. Golfo di Vittico
The Golfo di Vittico is an unavoidable anchorage in the north of Elba Island: renowned for its calm, its beauty and its magnificent sunsets, this stopover is made for boaters in search of spectacle and escape. The mooring offers very good holding on sandbanks and very good protection from Southerly winds. The place is wild and the waters are transparent. A beach is reachable not far and there is a restaurant on land with a high terrace overlooking a magnificent panorama. Marciana Marina
La Marciana Marina, to the west of Portoferraio and the Gulf of Vittico, is the perfect stopover to continue your adventure on the island of Elba. The marina offers WiFi, water and electricity at the dock. The showers and facilities are of good quality and it is possible to refuel. The staff are welcoming and help you dock safely.
The town of Marciana is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the joyful ans relaxed atmosphere of the island: smaller than Portoferraio, it nevertheless offers plenty of shops, restaurants and clubs where you can take advantage of long summer nights. Boaters describe a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Beaches are also accessible not far from the marina where you can relax in the heat of the Tuscan summer.
In August medieval celebrations are organized in the old town inland. For generations they have come to rekindle the historic flame of the ancient town which offers a setting that has hardly changed since the Middle Ages. Perfect for a fresh break and enjoy delicious walks in the flowery alleys of this historic village.
Baia di Fetovaia
After touring the North of the island with Portoferraio, Vittico and Marciana, you can continue your journey towards the South towards Baia di Fetovaia.
This stopover will immerse you directly in a paradisiacal setting in the middle of one of the most popular and best rated bays of Elba on Navily.
A wild place bathed in sparkling blue water, the Baia di Fetovaia delights boaters with its accessibility and beauty. Renowned place on the island, it is a stopover known to all regulars. Now that you are full, rested and ready to go back to sea, you can continue your journey east to finally reach Marina di Campo.
Marina di Campo
When you reach Marina di Campo, you will find the largest beach on Elba Island right next to it. You can anchor in front of it and go for a stroll on the beach or visit the village.
The place is magnificent. The village, the sunsets, the beach and the surrounding natural spaces contribute to the cozy and warm atmosphere of this place.
The anchorage offers a solid hold and is protected from Northerly winds. Warning: in case of wind and swell from the South, the mooring can be very rolly
The marina is accessible by dinghy and there are supermarkets, restaurants and bars nearby. The village is picturesque: it is home to old buildings and historical monuments that are worth a look.
Golfo Della Lacona
Once you’ve taken advantage of Marina di Campo, head back east and venture to Golfo Della Lacona. It also has a large beach, less crowded, for a perfect adventure to a calm and peaceful anchorage.
The Golfo Della Lacona is a very good anchorage to spend the day.
It has plenty of space for boats and magnificent private and public white sand beaches are accessible by a dinghy ride.
You will easily drop anchor in the sandbanks of this anchorage. Protected from easterly, northerly and westerly winds, you should be able to enjoy peaceful this idyllic setting.
Ashore, you can find grocery stores, bars and restaurants to refuel.
The more adventurous can take a hike to Capo Stella which will introduce you to the flora and fauna of Elba Island. When you reach the end of the trail, you will be surprised by the incredible panorama that lies before you. Moments of pure bliss to recharge your inner energies before setting sail to Porto Azzurro, further East.
Porto Azzuro (marina & mouillage)
Porto Azzuro is an ancient town on the island of Elba. It is a typical fishing town filled with History and culture: a fortification above a mountain, ancient buildings dating from the 17th century and much more. Porto Azzuro also has a vast natural heritage as the city is surrounded by magnificent forests which are an invitation to hiking..
Not to mention the magnificent golden beaches where you can laze around all day!
If you want to go to Porto Azzuro, two options are available to you.
The first is the Marina of Porto Azzuro. Loved by Navily users, this marina has electricity, water and wifi at the dock and fuel available. Showers and lavatories are also available further into the city. The staff are welcoming and warm. The marina is located in the city center which will allow you to directly enjoy the charm of Porto Azzuro.
The 2nd option is the anchorage of Porto Azzuro, located in the bay just west of the marina. The anchorage can accommodate dozens of boats. The bay is protected from all winds except those coming from the West.
With a sandy bottom guaranteeing good holding and clear water, the anchorage is very popular on Navily. However, some users report debris in the water that can potentially get stuck in your chain or anchor: you have to be careful.
You have the possibility to go to the village with your dinghy to enjoy its many entertainments, cultural and bucolic activities.
Ortano
After the city of Porto Azzuro, the Ortano anchorage, in the east of the island, is perfect to complete your tour of the island in style.
Much quieter and more wild, this anchorage is ideal for resting and enjoying the paradisiacal settings that Elbe offers one last time. With a sandy bottom and protection from the winds from North to South by the West, you will be comfortably anchoraged in Ortano.
Large sandy beach, crystal clear water as well as rocks and vegetation, this magnificent stopover is perfect to forget all your worries and let yourself be carried away in this wild atmosphere specific to Tuscany. the only thing you will have to worry about is… Sunburns!
