ha registrado m\u00e1s de 20 000 temblores, lo que ha llevado a miles de residentes a abandonar la isla. Aunque forma parte del Arco Volc\u00e1nico Hel\u00e9nico\u2014una cadena de islas de origen volc\u00e1nico\u2014, un nivel de actividad s\u00edsmica tan alto es inusual. La \u00faltima erupci\u00f3n volc\u00e1nica en la isla data de 1950, lo que hace que la situaci\u00f3n actual sea a\u00fan m\u00e1s preocupante. Crece el temor a un gran terremoto, y la posibilidad de una erupci\u00f3n inquieta a la poblaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 est\u00e1 causando estos temblores? Seg\u00fan las autoridades locales, no est\u00e1n relacionados con la actividad volc\u00e1nica, sino con el movimiento de las placas tect\u00f3nicas.
