boaters set course for Croatia, drawn by its spectacular bays, crystal-clear waters, and charming harbors perfect for a sailing holiday. Yet one aspect is still often underestimated: <strong>the mandatory taxes<\/strong> that must be paid to legally navigate in Croatian waters.<\/p><p>The idea for this article came from the experience of two of our friends who, while sailing along the Croatian coast, were stopped by the Maritime Police to check their onboard documents and required payments. The result: a very stressful moment and, unfortunately, a fine.<\/p><p>That is exactly why we decided to gather the most important official information to help you understand what needs to be done sea, you must complete your entry formalities at the first marina open to international traffic that you find. Here are the official entry points depending on where you are coming from:<\/p><ol><li><strong>Coming from the North<\/strong>: the first possible Marina is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Umag<\/span><\/li><li><strong>Coming from the South<\/strong>: you must stop at <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Cavtat<\/span> during the summer season (usually from May to October). Concerning the rest of the year, formalities are done directly in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Dubrovnik<\/span> (Gru\u017e).<\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Warning<\/span>: The Croatian authorities monitor maritime traffic very closely and do not hesitate to issue fines. It is no coincidence that a sailor from the Navily community reminds us of a fundamental rule when approaching Dubrovnik: make sure to sail around the small island located opposite the marina during your approach. Do not pass through there, or you will face a fine.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-239a247 elementor-widget to pay in Croatia<br \/><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When entering Croatian waters with your own boat, there are mainly two financial obligations to be aware of:<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a01.<\/strong> <strong>The nautical vignette (Navigation Tax)<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <em>Vignette<\/em> is the document that certifies:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Payment of navigation safety fees<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Registration of the vessel\u2019s arrival<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Payment of contributions for environmental protection and the prevention of marine pollution<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Administrative fees required by Croatian authorities<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The vignette is valid from the date of issue <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">until the end of the calendar year<\/span> (i.e. until December 31) and <strong>it is mandatory for b<\/strong><\/span><strong>oats with a length equal to or greater than 3 meters and the boats under 3 meters BUT equipped with an engine with a power equal to or greater than 5 kW.<\/strong><\/p><p>However, it is not required for rowing boats.<strong><br \/><\/strong><b><\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
