Best anchorages in Corsica
Girolata Gulfe
In a sheltered bay nested on the West coast of the Island, lies the anchorage of Girolata Gulf. Well protected from western to eastern winds by the North, it offers one of the most enjoyable boating experience in the area. You will anchor with ease in the shallow sandy seabed of the anchorage. If you get closer to the beach some rock formations will make mooring more challenging, careful maneuvering is recommended. Bad for your anchor, but good for your eyes, these rocky shallow waters feature an amazing sea life diversity. A paradise for diving and snorkeling amateurs.
The coastline is a geological marvel, featuring red terracotta and pale white rock formations. A unique landscape for the pleasure of wild photography aficionados. Furthermore, it’s proximity with the natural reserve of Scandola, makes it a perfect starting point for wild getaway through the natural wonders of the island. A small beach, perfect for a relaxing moment, is accessible directly from the anchorage.
Finally and most importantly, this anchorage will offer a relaxing and calm setting even in high season. Its proximity to the more popular anchorage of Girolata explains this particularity, and makes it a perfect alternative for visiting this part of the island in ‘’Chill mode’’.
“One of the most beautiful over night and day time anchorages in this area. Plenty of space to spread out. Anchoring in weed but good holding. The water is so clear and the snorkeling is great. Short dinghy ride into girolata, pleasant when sea is flat calm.”

Pinarellu Gulf
Pinarellu Gulf is a very popular destination offering good holding in shallow sandy waters. Be wary not to throw your anchor on the posidonies colonies populating some part of the mooring area. Sheltered from north-west to southern winds by the West, it is ideal in case of strong Mistral.
The bay offers a breathtaking settings for a swim. Ashore, the cute little beach of Pinarellu will welcome you in its many local restaurants (warmly recommended by our users).
From there, you can undertake a trek through the peculiar and blooming wilderness of this part of Corsica. Sainte Barbe chapel and Lac Padalatu are some of the wonders accessible from the anchorage that should keep you entertained for a few days stay.
To conclude, this anchorage is one of the most visited and commented place on Navily and for good reasons! A very good address to keep in your books. Obviously crowded in high season, you will have to settle a strategic schedule to fully enjoy the place (our users comment section should help).
“Superb wild place. Dampening of good hold. Go for a drink at the “ideal” hut and especially its cocktail of the same name. Warm welcome and idyllic setting. Happiness is here !!”

Cala Lazarina
In the southern part of Corsica, on the Lavezzi Islands lying a few miles offshore, Cala Lazarina is a gem of Corsica’s natural patrimony. In a wild sheltered creek, the scene is set for a travel back in time…
Its geographical situation makes it exceptionally well protected from all cardinal points. The sandy bottom of the creek (care for the few rocks lying in stealth)lying in shallow waters, allows easy anchoring and comfortable holding.
Two magnificent white sand beaches, Cala di U Lioni and Spiaggia di Cala Giunco lie in front of crystal clear blue waters of the anchorage : a lost paradise vibe that will please the adventurous souls. In Fact the place is famous for its unique rock formations. Shaped by wind and erosion, they take all sorts of unfamiliar shapes reminding settings from the Jurassic Age. We heard Steven Spielberg was thinking of the place for its next movie, but it’s a secret…
This magical setting comes with its loads of tourist and a spot in the small creek is highly priced in high season. However, in low season or early in the morning and late at night, this place is a natural wonder to enjoy… not to be missed.
“There is not much to say … a postcard! It’s beautiful, it’s a wild kind of end of the world 2 hours from bonifacio. Mooring on good sand. Watch out for the rocks that line this magnificent cove.”

Saleccia Beach
A white sandy beach, crystal blue waters and century trees rooted in the massive rocky coastline… Saleccia beach anchorage is a small piece of paradise praised by our community.
In the northern part of the island, sheltered from East to South-western winds and close to Saint Florent, Saleccia beach is an unmissable stopover. A large body of sand, 5 meters deep, compose most of the creek’s seabed and offer good and comfortable holding for your anchor. A seabed, that you will have no trouble enjoying in the transparent waters of the bay.
Crowded in high season, it is wise to find a strategic schedule to enjoy this magical place fully. That being said, the anchorage doesn’t lack place. Difficultly accessible by land, most of its visitors are coming with the tourists tours for the day. It is consequently rather calm in the evening and early in the morning : a perfect schedule to fall asleep and wake up in paradise.
“One of the most beautiful beaches of corsica, anchorage paradisiac, difficult access by road which preserves the site and the sea…”

Figuera Cove
Located on the South-west coast of Corsica, in the Golfe di Lava, you will find this sublime cove, worthy of the most outstanding photo albums. Sheltered from south winds only, the creek is exposed to Mistral, Tramontane, Grecs and Libeccio (may they be merciful when you get there)… An enjoyable experience by calm sea. The seabed is a mix of sand and algas in submarine rocky formations. Boaters who experienced anchoring there, do not tell of any kind of troubles finding a sand body in the bottoms for a comfortable stay.
Figuerra’s cove is praise for its calm, exceptional protection to southern winds, and the beauty of its landscape. Mounts and mountains enveloped in a deep green vegetation coat fall directly in the cove’s shallow waters. Peaceful, ethereal and wild, the picturesque coastline is set for the most breathtaking sunsets.
As if the painting couldn’t get any better, you will find waters as clear as the ones found in the Caribbean Sea (no joke). A place best kept secret… to share wisely…
“Top, but shhh! That this remains confidential Navily”
